Crest Bar And Grill

The Crest Bar and Grill Drive-in Movie Theater in Bakersfield, California opened its gates in 1963. Starting with just one screen, it became so popular that they decided to to add a second screen, enabling the theater to accommodate up to 1000vehicles.

The Crest was able to keep the gates open for thirty-five years before having to close them forever in 1998. It was a sad time for Bakersfield. If you ask someone who grew up here in town,they can still remember the smell of popcorn drifting through the balmy summer nights.
